1. Regulations relating admissions:
A. Terms and Conditions:
- It is open for Christian women
- To those who have completed 70 years and above
- The admission will be done after an appropriate enquiry. The Administrator will have discretionary powers in the admission of residents.
- Admission will not be possible for those suffering from contagious or mental diseases or those charged with criminal offences involving alcohol, drugs, chemical/ psychotropic substances
B. Admission Procedure:
- Those seeking admission to the Home will register their names paying a sum determined by the Management, which is non-refundable. After the registration and confirmation of the vacancy, the person needs to join the Home within a period of 30 days. If not, the vacancy may be given to the person on the waiting list.
- The one desirous of becoming an resident of ‘Devakripa’ shall fill up the prescribed Admission Form
- A separate written agreement will be signed in the presence of two witnesses agreeing to abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Institution.
- At the time of Registration/ Admission, the applicant will be accompanied by the Guardian responsible for the resident
- Applicants are required to submit the following documents along with the Admission form : a. Medical certificate from their doctor indicating the present state of health
b. Previous medical records, if any
c. A letter of introduction from the Parish Priest
d. Four recent passport size photographs
e. Copy of the ID Proof – Voter Id and Adhaar Card/ PAN Card
f. An undertaking by the Guardian or Sponsor to the effect that he/she will see to making regular payment of the resident for whom she stands guarantee. - In addition to the above, each resident shall provide two solvent sureties who guarantee payment of all the dues of the resident to ‘Devakripa’.
- At the time of interview and registration of the applicant the two responsible - Guardian 1 and Guardian 2 - preferably the family members or close relatives, will execute the bond in favour of the Institution undertaking to pay in full fee and all other expenses and amounts payable to the Institution by the applicant, shall be present.
The Administrator will have to be notified at the earliest when there is any change in the addresses and telephone numbers of the guardians. If the guardians of the resident cease to be a sponsor by death or for any other reason, the surviving guardian will fulfil the responsibilities towards the resident.
Any resident who has obtained admission by producing false documents of any kind shall be dismissed from the institute.
C. Remittance:
Every Applicant shall remit at the time of admission security deposit, monthly fee, service charge for special nurse if any and charge for other additional services.
II. Regulations relating Mode of living:
A. Accommodation: ‘Devakripa’ provides 4 types of rooms as noted below:
- Single rooms with attached toilet and balcony
- Single rooms with attached toilet, kitchenette and balcony
- Special rooms with attached toilet, kitchenette and a spacious balcony
- Cubicles with common toilets
B. Facilities:
- A Chapel for daily Eucharistic Celebration and for personal prayer
- Lobby with sofas and a TV at each floor
- Solar lights on passages and common places
- Hot water in bathrooms and refectory
- A physiotherapy room
- Elevator
- Wheel chairs and stretchers
- Waterbeds for bed ridden residents
- Daily newspapers, periodicals, magazines and library books
- Intercom facility in all the rooms
C. Guidelines:
- All the rooms are provided with a cot, mattress, pillow, table and a chair, cupboard with locker, electrical and sanitary fittings. Any other item of her choice for her use in the living room, bathroom and dining groom are to be provided by the resident herself.
- Residents shall take care of their personal belongings like cash, jewellery, mobiles and other expensive articles. The Management is not responsible for any loss or damage of any personal articles.
- Intercom facilities are provided in the rooms. The residents are permitted to have personal mobiles at their own expense. The common phone is available for use on payment.
- Persons admitted to the Institute have no tenancy or occupancy right to the room allotted for their use.
- The residents are not permitted to change the rooms allotted to them among themselves unless permitted by the Administrator
- Electrical appliances like the iron, coil or any other gadget requiring undue consumption of power are not to be used in the room. It will be provided on request with additional charges.
- Each resident shall keep the room, bathroom clean and tidy. Great attention shall be paid towards one’s personal hygiene.
- Laundry facilities will be provided for the residents.
- Residents are to avoid wastage of water keeping in mind the scarcity of water and the danger of depletion of the ground water. Water needs to be used sparingly.
- For repairs and other works in the rooms, the residents will approach the Administrator.
- The residents are discouraged to give tips or gifts to the helpers individually as this may cause indiscipline and ill feeling among the workers.
- It is highly desirous that the residents live cordially and peaceably with one another. Each one will contribute positively towards building a united family considering each resident as the member of ‘Devakripa’ family, for the benefit of each and every one.
- Residents are not to interfere with the affairs of other residents. Clarifications or queries, if any, are to be addressed to the Administrator.
- The residents are not to indulge in illegal, illicit activities.
- Alcohol, drugs are disallowed inside the campus.
- No family members/ guests/ friends will stay in the residents’ room overnight.
- The residents are encouraged to maintain silence at night so as not to disturb those who wish to retire early for bed.
- Whosoever goes out of the Home, need to report back latest by 7.00 pm
- The resident is required to enter her movements outside the campus in the book kept for the purpose at the reception counter.
- In the interest of the residents, they will be kept engaged in some activities; they need to join the physical exercises or other common exercises, attend sessions organized through the resource persons, reading. This is done, as occupational therapy voluntarily.
III. Food and Diet:
- The residents will be served wholesome and balanced diet. However, if anyone requires special food on Doctor’s prescription, it will be provided on prior request
- Food is served in the dining hall at particular meal timings. All are encouraged to have their meals in the dining hall. In case of those who are unable to walk down to the dining hall, food will be provided in the rooms.
- Keeping in mind that the food is God’s gift and thinking of the millions of starving people, wastage of food is to be avoided.
- Bed coffee/ tea will be provided in all rooms in the morning. Hot water for drinking also will be provided for those in need.
- When an resident is absent or delayed for meals, information needs to be given to the Administrator on time.
IV. Medical care:
- General nursing care will be provided for all. A qualified doctor will be made available for routine check-up and on emergency cases.
- Each one will meet her expenses for her medical treatment and medicines, procured personally or through others.
- Each resident may engage if necessary her own family doctor, at her own expense. In case any resident needs constant/ special care, the guardian/ sponsor will appoint an attendant at their own expense who will be charged extra for her mess, approved by the Administrator.
- A Nurse/ Sister is available in the house, for the normal nursing care of the residents. She will be available to check blood pressure on regular basis. She will also assist in the ordinary care of hygiene, dressing of wounds, applying bandages etc. In case of need, medicines will be administered by the Nurse/Sister.
- When a resident becomes seriously ill, the Administrator shall inform the family members/guardians / sponsors and if necessary takes immediate action to shift her to the hospital; her family members/ guardians / sponsors shall meet all the hospital and medical expenses including that of the attendant.
V. In the Event of Death:
- In the event of death of an resident, her family members/guardians/sponsors shall take full responsibility of the funeral rites and the expenses connected with it and also the decision regarding the place of burial/ funeral rites to be held.
- The belongings of such a deceased resident will be handed over only to the family
members/guardians/sponsors whose name is furnished at the time of admission or to the legal heirs in the absence of the above-mentioned persons. - The guardian will also see to clearing any outstanding dues on behalf of the deceased resident.
- If an adjustment in the room is made to set the room as per the desire of the resident such modification will not be dismantled or returned if it is fixed on the walls.
- Special Deposit for the Last Medical Service / funeral rites: The Resident shall deposit Rupees one lakh with the Administrator as Special Deposit for the Last Medical Service and funeral rites. Should the family members/ guardians/sponsors take responsibility to meet such expenses, this deposit shall be returned to them but without interest.
- In confirmation to the above terms and conditions, each applicant shall submit the original agreement to ‘Devakripa’ duly signed by the applicant, family members/ guardians/sponsors and two witnesses at the time of admission.
VI. Visiting Hours
- Family members, relatives, friends, guardians, sponsors of the residents are welcome to visit the Home during the following hours:
• 10.00 am to 12.00 am
• 04.00 pm to 06.00 pm - No relatives/ friends or anyone else will stay overnight in the room of the resident.
VII. Amendments of Rules and Regulations
The Terms and conditions are subject to change and may be modified from time to time as per the need and as the Management deems necessary without notice. Any such change made will be notified to the residents.
